OMS don't, AFAIK, play on this. In the bumph which came with the wing, it
specifically stated that you should NOT inflate both wings together - one
was a truely redundant wing to be used if the other was mis-functioning.

Agree. Not a good solution.

But there is another cleaner solution. I have removed the second wing
inflate (which cleans up the first stage configuration and reduces another
failure point) and attached the end of the redundant inflator hose via a
piston-clip to the bottom bungee on the right side of the wing (so is
easily found, removable but tucked out of the way). I've changed my
dry-suit inflate so it can be used to inflate either bladder as well as my
dry-suit. So, I've got a wing inflate whip and a dry-suit inflate whip,
either of which can be disconnected and re-used on either of the 2 bladders
or the dry-suit, with minimal fuss. However, in the case of my main bladder
wing failing, my first reaction would be to use the dry-suit as a backup
inflate and avoid the hose switching.

In my 'normal' diving, I don't need the second bladder. However, when I got
it a couple of years ago, it was virtually the only one on the market here.
If I bought now, I would probably go for the SeaTec wing, although I would
like to try one first (Graeme, Andy, Sue ... can I borrow one of yours -
and one of your scooters sometime :-).

Yup, so I would use my dry-suit as my main backup. However, what would you
use as a backup if you were, say, diving in warm-water with a wet-suit on?
